Hello all!
Like a broken record, I'm a long time Star Wars and 501st fan living in Nova Scotia. A friend semi-recently joined the 501st and appropriately gave me the itch to follow suit ever since (I won't out him just yet, and haven't told him I'm here, so lets see if he reads this and puts it together).
I hope to start and finish a Death Trooper over 2021 if my work permits the time (with the challenge of keeping it reasonably economic) and have generally settled on the sourcing of the materials. I didn't see a TX in the member list so I assume there are none in Atlantic Canada, correct?
Anyway, thats me so let me know if you have any additional questions about me.
Thanks!

Hello! No death troopers in NS, but a shoretrooper completed and one or two in some stage of completion. Here to help and welcome to the plastic spacemen army

we have some TX tags 2 mudtroopers and Shadow Scout, but not any deathtroopers, they are very cool costume from newer series. I do have from one of the best helmet makers a resin helmet kit I haven't finished and willing to part with if you are looking for one.

Thanks everyone!
I will remember your offer (Ryan/ST20390) when I begin purchasing the various items related to the hard armour itself. There is supposedly a 'master set' of Death Trooper STL files in the works that are purported to be the "most screen accurate set to date." My current plan is to focus on the soft parts (i.e., the ribbed material/undersuit) in the meantime while I wait for the file release. Lots of sewing in my future!
Addition: Sorry I didn't include this in my original message as it appears my thread hadn't included several responses - Is it customary to apply to the 501st before the armour has been completed? I was under the impression that it was something you did when you were ready to have it reviewed/approved.

You can apply before or after. There is no right or wrong way

from my knowledge and most of the 501st approved armor that is 3d printing, there is no better files then Tom Campbells. that's if you can print and finish for yourself.
I don't know if there is any being released that will be better.

Yes, currently Tom Campbell provides the highest quality 3D files for the Death Trooper, however, they cost roughly $260 CAD and are not totally accurate.
Alternatively, there is a group of 4 to 5 people that are part way through creating a fully-accurate set based on scans of the real props and available figures. Most of the changes are small, but they are promising to release them for free once complete. I think they are hoping to have them completed this year.
I have access to printers and finishing is not a concern so I will be working on the unique undersuit while I wait for the new files to be released. The undersuit is a project on its own so it will keep me busy!
